Welcome to the new Obstacle Spotlight! Each week we’ll be looking at one of the many fun, challenging, and muddy obstacles for the Annual Hollis Adam’s Mud Run!
Today we’re looking at an obstacle that teaches us: “Looks… can be deceiving.”
It’s the Rope Bridge Obstacle, and don’t underestimate the challenges that come along with this one. It looks as if it would be an easy trek across the bottom rope, with two side ropes to help you stabilize your body. But the slack in the ropes and the lack of foundation mean you have to focus on your core and concentrate with every step.
Think of it like a tightrope walk… but the rope isn’t tight, and you’re dangling above a pit of muddy water. Kind of like this:
While it may not be the most physically challenging obstacle at our event, you’ll have to use your entire body to maintain your balance and get you to the other side.
You might not lose your breath climbing or running, but laughter, slips, falls, and mud are sure to be the main attractions during this event.
OBSTACLE TIP: Make sure to keep your head up, and looking toward your target!
The moment you put your head down, or start looking around at your surroundings,
you can start to lose your balance. Find a static object and stick with it!!
